Hey, Everybody!  Welcome to The Gallery!

Since the best way to choose a new salon is to actually see the stylists' work and judge for yourself, we created our Before & After Gallery to show you what we do best.  And what better way than with actual Madison Avenue West clients!  All of the 'models' below were cut, colored, styled, and had their makeup applied here at the salon.  Most of the Before & After photos were shot by me (Jeff, a total amateur) and others were photographed by acclaimed photographer Jackie Koscinski

As the owner and head stylist of Madison Avenue West, I've always had a passion for doing hair and makeup, so I try to inspire my clients to get excited about their image, and take a little extra time to look their best.  And to achieve your best look, it undeniably starts with your hair.  The right cut is an important foundation to set your style in motion, followed by the right color to accent your haircut and compliment your skin tones.  And to really show off your cut and color, the right makeup is of the utmost importance.  The wrong color lipstick, for example, or one that is poorly applied can detract and distract from your total look.

Now I know some of you are already thinking "I barely have time to do my hair in the morning, and even LESS time to apply makeup everday."  Believe me, I get it.  Most women live very hectic lives, dealing with work, kids, and significant-others, but makeup doesn't have to be another huge job on your list.  Like any job, with the right knowledge and the proper tools, it can be done more quickly and efficiently.  You can learn to apply your makeup perfectly in under 10 minutes!

For help with your makeup application, check out our MAKEUP 101 pages.  I've put together a lot of info you might find useful, and walk you through makeup application step by step.  Over the next few months, I will adding more and more makeup tips, tricks, suggestions, and photos with detailed descriptions and info about the products and techniques I used to achieve each look.  If time allows I will try to shoot a makeover video, so check back often to see if it's up yet.  Or better yet, create a free account and join our mailing list.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy looking at these frist few Before & After photos I've posted.

Come back soon!
Jeff

THE MAKEOVERS
BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS DONE AT MADISON AVENUE WEST

Lisa

Lisa is a busy mom, and wanted some help learning how to apply her makeup quickly and easily, and with choosing the right colors for nights out with her husband or the girls.  Lisa let me take some photos and we think she looks fabulous!

Thanks, Lisa!

Hair:  Lisa wanted a smoother look, so I applied Snob Girls Amino-Collagen 6 Vice Versa Curls Bio-Serum before blow drying, then sprayed her with TIGI Catwalk Sleek Mystique Haute Iron Spray before flat ironing just her roots to romove some frizz around her hairline.

Makeup:  We used only TIGI Cometics for this makeover.  I began by applying TIGI Mineral Tint in Cameo Glow, followed by a light dusting of Powder Foundation in Shi Shi.  For her eyeliner, I used Perfect Eyeliner in Black on her top lash line, and the dark gold in the Posh High Density Eyeshadow Quad on the lower lash line.  I used both the wax in the Brunette Brow Sculpting Duo (applied with an Angle Brush) to give her brows some shine and shape.  On her eyelids I used the dark brown in the Love Affair Quad, the light gold in the Posh Quad, and the light beige in Posh on her brow bone (both applied with Shading Brush), then I used a Blending Brush to blend colors, and added a bit of the Green Single to her top lash line, and the outer third of her lower lash line.  Her lashes were lengthened with TIGI Lash Love Black Mascara.   Using a Powder Brush, I lightly applied TIGI Bronzer to the apples of her cheeks, then applied a light dusting  to her cheekbones, forehead, temples, nose and chin.  For her lips, I lined and filled in with Perfect Lipliner in Decaf, then covered her lips with Lip Creme in Madrid, and added a touch of  Luxe Lipgloss in Your Highness to the center of both lips.  Lip Creme and Luxe Lipgloss were both applied with a Lip Brush.

Amanda was nice enough to let me do her makeup and photograph her to show a fresh, young look for everyday or for evening.

Hair:  I cut a face frame into Amanda's long, layered hair first, then I applied Snob Girls Amino-Collagen 6 Vice Versa Curls Bio-Serum before blow drying, then sprayed her with TIGI Catwalk Sleek Mystique Haute Iron Spray before flat ironing for a straight, smooth look.

Makeup:  We used only TIGI Cometics for this makeover.  I began by applying TIGI Mineral Tint in Cameo Glow, followed by a light dusting of Powder Foundation in Shi Shi.  For her eyeliner, I used Perfect Eyeliner in Green on her top and bottom lash lines.  I used both the wax and powder in the Brunette Brow Sculpting Duo (applied with an Angle Brush) to create more of an arch and to extend the outer line further.  On her eyelids I used the dark gold in the Posh High Density Eyeshadow Quad, and the light beige in Posh on her brow bone (both applied with Shading Brush), then I used a Blending Brush to blend colors, and added a bit of the dark gold under the green eyeliner on her lower lash lid.  Her lashes were lengthened with TIGI Lash Love Black Mascara.   Using a Powder Brush, I lightly applied Brilliance Glow Blush to the apples of her cheeks, then applied a light dusting  to her cheekbones, forehead, temples, nose and chin.  We finished her look with Luxe Lipgloss in Superficial applied with a Lip Brush.

Ches

Ches let me photograph her after applying makeup, using only the items in our TIGI New York City Nights Collection.

Thanks, Ches!
Makeup:   To show one of the many looks you create using our TIGI New York City Nights Collection, I used only items in that collection when doing Ches' makeup, except for her foundation (Foundation is not included in NYC Nights).   I began by applying TIGI Mineral Tint in Natural Glow, followed by Satin Liquid Foundation in  Natural Beige, with a light dusting of Powder Foundation in Allure.  For her eyeliner, I used Perfect Eyeliner in Black on her top lid, and the black shadow in the Last Call Quad over it and on her lower lash line.  I used both the wax and powder in the Brunette Brow Sculpting Duo (also not included in NYC Nights), and applied it with an Angle BrushOn her eyelids I used the dark rose and turquoise in the Lush High Density Eyeshadow Quad, and the silver in the Last Call Quad on her brow bone (all 3 applied with Shading Brush), then I used a Blending Brush to blend colors.  Her lashes were thickened with Eyes Love It Black Mascara.   Using a Powder Brush, I lightly applied Lovely Glow Blush to the apples of her cheeks, forehead, temples, nose and chin, then applied a light dusting of the peach eyeshadow in the Lush Quad to highlight her cheekbones, .  We finshed her look with Decaf Perfect Lipliner (on entire lips, not just the outline), followed by Decadent Lipstick in Splendor, and Luxe Lipgloss in Foxy (not included in NYC Nights), applied with a Lip Brush.

Ana

Ana had a holiday party to attend, so after coloring and cutting her,  I pulled her hair up and applied her makeup for a sophisticated evening look.

Thanks, Ana!
Hair:  I colored Ana's hair with a rish, copper-brown formula I created just for her with Pravana Chromasilk haircolor, and trimmed her long, layered hair.  I applied Snob Girls Amino-Collagen 6 Vice Versa Curls Bio-Serum before blow drying, then sprayed her with TIGI Catwalk Sleek Mystique Haute Iron Spray before flat ironing.  I also pulled her sides up and back and fastened with a rhinestone hair ornament (not visible in these photos).

Makeup:  We used only TIGI Cometics for this makeover.  Ana's skin tends to be a bit dry, so I began by applying TIGI Mineral Tint in Natural Glow, followed by Satin Liquid Foundation in Medium Beige.  For her eyeliner, I used Perfect Eyeliner in Brown on her top lid, and Chocolate High Density Eyeshadow on her lower lash line.  I used both the wax and powder in the Blonde Brow Sculpting Duo (applied with an Angle Brush).  On her eyelids I used the dark gold in the Posh High Density Eyeshadow Quad, NaturalSingle Eyeshadow, and Champagne on her brow bone (all 3 applied with Shading Brush), then I used a Blending Brush to blend colors.  Her lashes were lengthened with TIGI Lash Love Black Mascara.   Using a Powder Brush, I lightly applied Lovely Glow Blush to the apples of her cheeks, then applied a light dusting of TIGI Bronzer to her cheekbones, forehead, temples, nose and chin.  We finished her look with DecafPerfect Lipliner (on entire lips, not just the outline), followed by Luxe Lipgloss in Goddess applied with a Lip Brush.

Robin

Robin was nice enough to let me shoot some Before & After photos of her at the salon.

I cut Robin, touched up her highlights, blew her out straight, and applied her makeup for a light daytime look.

Thanks, Robin!
Hair:  I touched up the roots of Robin's highlights and toned her whole head down a bit with Pravana Chromasilk haircolor, and trimmed her long, layered hair, adding some more fringe around her face.  I applied Snob Girls Amino-Collagen 6 Vice Versa Curls Bio-Serum before blow drying, then sprayed her with TIGI Catwalk Sleek Mystique Haute Iron Spray before flat ironing.

Makeup:  We used only TIGI Cometics for this makeover.  Robin's skin tends to be a bit dry, so I began by applying TIGI Mineral Tint in Natural Glow, followed by Satin Liquid Foundation in Bisque.  For her eyeliner, I used Perfect Eyeliner in Brown on her top lid, and ChocolateHigh Density Eyeshadow on her lower lash line.  I used both the wax and powder in the Brunette Brow Sculpting Duo (applied with an Angle Brush).  On her eyelids I used the dark and light golds in the Posh High Density Eyeshadow Quad, and Champagne on her brow bone (all 3 applied with Shading Brush), then I used a Blending Brush to blend colors.  Her lashes were lengthened with TIGI Lash Love Black Mascara.   Using a Powder Brush, I lightly applied Brilliance Glow Blush to the apples of her cheeks, then applied a light dusting of TIGI Bronzer to her cheekbones, forehead, temples, nose and chin.  We finished her look with DecafPerfect Lipliner (on entire lips, not just the outline), followed by Lip Creme in Madrid, and Luxe Lipgloss in Your Highness applied with a Lip Brush.

Meghan

Meghan's hair was shoulder length with long and pretty much one-length before her makeover.  Her natural color was a light-to-medium, warm brown.  We decided to keep her length, add some long layers, and a small bang section to soften her forehead.  We foiled in some honey blonde highlights to accent her long layers, and the result speaks for itself.  A much softer, warmer look that compliments her skin tones perfectly.

We kept Meghan's makeup soft and natural for these photos,   and with the new warm highlights in her hair we chose to use neutral eyeshadows and corals for her cheeks and lips.

Regina

Regina started out with long, one-length hair, and was somewhat light from the summer sun, appearing a bit brassy and washed out.  We kept her long, added some long layers and a face frame, the colored her hair a rich, auburn brown for a fabulous fall look.

The autumnal tones in her new color coordinate well with her warm, ruddy skin tones.  We chose bronze shades for her blush and eyes, and a warm salmon color for her lips to accent her new look.

Tara

When Tara came to us, she was a bit blonderexic, too many highlights and too much sun did a number on her gorgeous head  of hair.  So we toned her down, added some medium and dark blonde low-lights, and blunted out her long layers, enabling her to achieve the three looks you see here.  Soft pinks and corals on her cheeks and lips brighten her face up perfectly, while natural and champagne eyeshadows give her an alluring look while remaining soft, and casual.  For an eveing look, we punched up the color a bit, but continued to maintain a soft, cohesive look.
